How Much Water Do You Use
Each person in the region uses about 93
gallons of water each day on average throughout the year.
Many of us use a large amount of water in the summertime for outdoor activities such as
gardening, washing cars, and watering the lawn.
The year-round average for outdoor water use is 30 gallons per day (gpd). Summertime use
averages 85 gpd. This compares to 33 gpd in the summer and fall, and a negligible amount
in winter.
Indoor water use accounts for the rest of our daily averages. See the chart for how much
water is used per person, per day for different purposes.
