Highline Water District Newsflash
Effective June 1, 2008, Highline Water district will amend rates billed to residential and commercial customers. The Board of Commissioner's approved the new rate structure at their regular meeting held April 2, 2008. The District hired FCS Group consulting firm to perform a rate study to determine the adequacy of the existing rates and the fairness of the rates to the District customers. An analysis was performed to determine the total cost of service by customer type because different customer types place different demands on the system. The analysis measured usage and demand; planning, engineering and design criteria; and facility requirements including fire protection and peak water use. The results of the study determined a rate adjustment is required to meet revenue needs to support the ongoing operating, maintenance and capital needs of the system. In addition, a tiered rate for the summer was selected to encourage conservation and provide relief to those who do not use much water in the summer. The firs 4 ccf of water used per month will be charged the winter rate. The average monthly water use of a Single Family Residential customer is approximately 7 ccf of water in the winter and 10 ccf of water in the summer (1ccf = 100 cf + 748 gallons).
New Rates - effective June 1, 2008 Monthly Base Rates
